Deeper Support Consults

When Early Parenthood Feels Harder Than Expected
Most parents expect early parenthood to be tiring. Fewer expect it to feel this disorienting. If you are feeding around the clock, barely sleeping, and starting to wonder why nobody warned you it could feel like this, you are not failing at something everyone else finds easy. You are describing a genuinely hard stretch of life.
An Embrace Signature Consult exists for exactly this. It is not about fixing one isolated problem. It is about pausing long enough to look at the whole picture with someone trained to see it clearly.
What makes this different from a standard GP appointment
Standard appointments are built for single issues in short windows. Early parenthood rarely presents that way. Feeding difficulties, unsettled sleep, and emotional overwhelm tend to arrive together, and each one makes the others harder to manage.
An Embrace Signature Consult is a longer, unhurried appointment led by a GP who is NDC-accredited through the Possums approach to infant sleep and feeding. Rather than addressing one symptom at a time, the consult looks beneath the surface for the patterns adding stress, whether that is a baby's sensory environment, a feeding routine that is not sustainable, or a parent running on empty.
What we look at together
- Feeding challenges and how they may be connected to sleep or settling
- Unsettled or unpredictable infant sleep
- Emotional overwhelm, anxiety, or a sense of not coping
- How your baby's temperament and sensory needs fit into all of this
- What is happening for you as a parent, not just for your baby
The aim is not a checklist of instructions to follow. It is a practical, individualised plan grounded in the Possums/NDC approach, built around your family's actual circumstances rather than a generic routine.
Who this is for
You do not need to be in crisis to book one. Some parents come in because something feels off and they cannot quite name it. Others come in exhausted, having tried everything they can think of. Both are valid reasons to seek support. If you have already read our post on infant mental health and attunement and recognised yourself in it, an Embrace Signature Consult is often the next step.
What to expect at your appointment
Appointments run for about an hour, giving enough time for a full picture to emerge rather than a rushed assessment. Our GPs draw on Possums/NDC training, a background in child health, and clinical experience in perinatal care to work through what is happening and build a plan with you, not for you.
Deeper Support Consults are available with Dr Marisa Nguyen, Dr Hayley Glasson and Dr Kate McCullough. Fees vary depending on the level of follow up you require - your GP can assist you with this decision. Current pricing is available when you book, or by contacting the clinic.
You do not have to work this out alone
Early parenthood is not supposed to be a solo problem-solving exercise. If it feels harder than you expected, that is reason enough to ask for support, not a sign you are getting something wrong.
